Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer in Rich Amber

Anastasia Beverly Hills, also known as ABH, is an American cosmetics company best known for its eyebrow products. The company was founded by Romanian-born Anastasia Soare in 1997 in Beverly Hills, California. Soare's daughter Claudia Soare, also known as Norvina, is the president of the company. - Wikipedia

I have always wanted to try Anastasia Beverly Hills' products and while I haven't purchased any of the cult favourite brow products or palettes I picked few items up from TKmaxx for half of the price to try out.

I got these products:
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer in Rich Amber £30
Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick in Soft Pink £18

Powder Bronzer in Rich Amber £30

I was aware when purchasing this bronzer that it could be a hint too dark for my normal pale complexion, but hoped it worked with my current fake tan routine. To my surprise, I really enjoyed the colour, but not the formula, unfortunately. The formula is very powdery and when I dip my brush on it, I feel it goes everywhere. It applies lovely on the skin, but for me, I feel like there is a weird sheen to the bronzer. I'm not a too big fan of glowy bronzers, but I don't mind a bit of sheen. Even if this has just that bit of sheen, it seems to make the colour a bit muddy when light hits the bronzer.

Overall Score 2/5. I wouldn't purchase this again.

Matte Lipstick in Soft Pink £18

My favourite lipstick formulas are usually soft matte, long-wearing and comfortable. Unfortunately, this didn't reach the level of my favourite formulas. I would recommend Charlotte Tilbury or Wet'n'Wild matte lipstick instead. The formula is no means bad, it feels fairly creamy when applied to the lips and it gives that long-lasting matte look that we are after. My problem is that it feels drying on the lips - not a lot, but enough for me to feel it - and it clings to any dry patches on my lips. Also, I feel like it emphasizes the fine lines on my lips. For £18 lipstick, I was expecting a bit more, but I can see someone could really like this formula a lot too as it really gives that matte-matte look to the lips.

The colour is called soft pink and on my pale skin tone, it shows as a bit toned-down version of hot pink. I like this on me more when I fake tan and with a nice pink makeup look.

Overall Score 2/5.

Even if I didn't love either of these makeup items, I'm still planning in buying one of the Anastasia Beverly Hill's eyeshadow palettes in the future. As this post shows people like different formulas and products. These might be someone's favourites while for me they didn't work out.
