THE INKEY LIST VS THE ORDINARY FOR BLEMISH PRONE SKIN

The Inkey List C-50 Blemish Nigth Treatment

Inkey list founded by Colette Laxton and Mark Curry in 2018 in the UK the brand has seen expediential growth in the skincare market and is now being sold at Boots and most other major retailers.

The Ordinary was founded in 2016 by infamous Canadian Brandon Truaxe, it soon became the talk of the beauty industry with its high-quality affordable skincare products. The founder died tragically in 2019 and the company is now owned by Estee Lauder.

My partner has acne-prone skin and I have been looking for skincare products to tackle the breakouts for years. After a lot of trial and error, I think we have found now a few good skincare stables - The Ordinary Peeling Solution and the Inkey List Night Treatment. While they are no means miracle products they do work well and are affordable.

The Inkey List C-50 Blemish Night Treatment

The Inkey List C-50 Blemish Night Treatment 30ml - £12.99

The C-50 Blemish Night Treatment helps to treat blemishes and prevent future outbreaks by warding off blemish causing bacteria. The title ingredient C-50, or sodium ascorbyl phosphate, minimises the appearance of blemishes while encouraging your skin to heal itself. The formula also calls upon the pore-perfecting ingredient we all know and love, salicylic acid, to empower this treatment with exfoliating goodness and clearing power. - Cult Beauty Website

I was excited to try this on my partner after I had heard such good reviews about the Murad InvisiScar Resurfacing Treatment https://www.murad.co.uk/product/invisiscar-resurfacing-treatment/ and the Inkey List product was a good dupe. While the products aren't 100% the same, they have similar key ingredients - Salicylic Acid and Vitamin C and I wanted to see if these together would help out with acne.

The formula is lightweight clear gel without a scent.

Results: While there aren't magical results with this and we think that my partner's acne is more hormone-related, I could still see a small reduction in the number of blemishes, and the skin seemed less oily. I would recommend this for anyone struggling with oily blemish-prone skin. While it is not magic, it can really work wonders on your skin.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution 30ml

This peeling solution unites AHAs and BHAs to offer deep exfoliation and help battle blemishes for improved skin radiance. Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) exfoliate the skin’s topmost layer for a brighter, more even appearance, while beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) exfoliate the skin more deeply to clear pore congestion – together, they radically improve the appearance of the skin’s texture and reduce the look of fine lines. Don’t be perturbed by the irritation often associated with acid use – The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution also features Tasmanian pepperberry to reduce inflammation, as well as a crosspolymer form of hyaluronic acid for comfort, vitamin B5 to assist healing and black carrot as an antioxidant. - Cult Beauty Website

This has been amazing for both myself and my partner's skin. The formula is a red liquid that can be a bit difficult to apply as a mask, but thin layers goes a long way. My partner has thick skin, so she uses this for a total of 10 minutes and then washes it off twice a week while I use this only for few minutes for my more sensitive skin whenever I need it. The next morning skin looks and feels a bit more smooth. While this does have some instant next day results, the real results really come from long term use, the skin seems smoother and breakouts are reduced.

I would recommend this for everyone, obviously as it is a stronger peel I would recommend trying it out first and patch test before using it the whole 10 minutes. This is my skincare cabinet stable.
