Boots Glow Skincare - Is it any good?

Boots Glow Skincare Range Products

Earlier this year Boots launched Glossier inspired skincare line. With its millennial pink packaging, gold hot foiling, sleek design and affordable price point I'm surprised why I haven't seen people talking about this more.

While the skincare range has some issues with it such as the unappealing labels that keep peeling off and getting dirty, overall I'm very impressed with these low price point items. I will definitely be repurchasing the cleansing oil and maybe trying out the few other products from the range.

The products I purchased:

  • Boots Glow Moisturising Cream 50ml - £4
  • Boots Glow Eye Cream 15ml - £4
  • Boots Glow Cleansing Stick 28ml - £4
  • Boots Glow Cleansing Oil 100ml - £4

Boots Glow Skincare Moisturising Cream Swatch on hand

Boots Glow Moisturising Cream 50ml - £4

Promises: Our boots glow lightweight moisturising cream hydrates, brightens and smooths skin giving a glowing complexion, to prep skin for the day ahead.

I have really enjoyed this moisturiser. It is lightweight, feels super silky and smooth on the skin and leaves skin feeling hydrated. It has a lovely fresh fruity scent that is quite strong, but goes nicely with the product.

The price point is very affordable just £4 and Boots regularly has discounts that you can use to make the product even cheaper. Looking at the price point and the ingredients I was fairly happy.

The second ingredient on the list is Niacinamide also known as Vitamin B3. It is a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly minimise enlarged pores, tighten lax pores, improve uneven skin tone, soften fine lines and wrinkles, diminish dullness, and strengthen a weakened surface. This powerhouse ingredient is used in a lot of higher-end skincare products too and I was so happy to see that this was one of the main ingredients of the product.

An ingredient that I wasn't too excited about was paraffinum liquidum that is cheap mineral oil. It is very common in skincare as it is very stable and suitable for most skin types, but it is not eco-friendly. While I do not mind mineral oil, as it works on my skin well, I do not like that it is not an eco-friendly ingredient. Another ingredient that I'm not too keen on is parabens, while they are not banned in Europe and they are seen as very good preservatives I still prefer other preservatives. Also, I'm not too sure why they have used multiple preservatives on this formula - Phenoxyethanol and Methylparaben. Any cosmetics scientists please leave a comment below!

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Niacinamide, Glycerin, Cetearyl alcohol, Paraffinum liquidum, Palmitic acid, Petrolatum, Stearic acid, Phenoxyethanol, Butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, Glyceryl stearate, Dipropylene glycol, PEG-100 stearate, Carbomer, Parfum (Fragrance), Methylparaben, Allantoin, Sodium acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, Tocopheryl acetate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Dimethicone, Alpha-arbutin, Sodium hydroxide, Isohexadecane, Xanthan gum, Polysorbate 80, Linalool, Amyl cinnamal, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, Sorbitan oleate, Hydroxycitronellal, Sodium hyaluronate, Panthenol, Butylene glycol, Denatonium benzoate, Portulaca oleracea extract, Tocopherol, BHT

If you do not mind mineral oil or parabens this is an excellent moisturiser!

Boots Glow Skincare Range Eye Cream

Boots Glow Eye Cream 15ml - £4

Promises: Our Boots Glow Eye Cream refreshes and rehydrates, whilst also soothing skin around the eyes, for revitalised, brighter-looking skin.

This eye cream does as it promises it refreshes and hydrates the under-eye area, while it doesn't really do much more than your regular moisturisers this could be a great addition for a person who has dry under eyes or just wants to add an eye cream to their routine. While it doesn't do much I still enjoy using this product, it smells nice, the formula is smooth and hydrating and I know it won't irritate my sensitive skin.

The main ingredients are Glycerin and Dimethicone with some added shea and cocoa butter. This eye cream seems to be a nice under eye moisturiser. Again it contains parabens that I'm not too keen on, but otherwise, this is a great moisturiser for your under eyes

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Butylene glycol, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl palmitate, Hydrogenated polyisobutene, Isononyl isononanoate, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea) butter, Cetearyl alcohol, Glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) seed butter, Tocopheryl acetate, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Cetearyl glucoside, Sodium acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, Sodium hyaluronate, Xanthan gum, Chlorphenesin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium hydroxide, Isohexadecane, Disodium EDTA, Polysorbate 80, Sorbitan oleate, Portulaca oleracea extract, Passiflora edulis fruit extract

Overall Score: 4/5

Boots Glow Skincare Cleansing Stick

Boots Glow Cleansing Stick 28ml - £4

It promises: Our Boots Glow Cleansing Stick melts away make-up and nourishes and hydrates skin, to give a healthy-looking glow.

The product really does what it promises, while the packaging was totally ruined when I received the product (complained to Boots) the inside was untouched and fine to use. For £4 cleansing stick, this was a dream come true, excellent taking off makeup and making my cleansing experience more luxurious. The stick smells good and applies well.

Again the ingredients aren't the best, but as I said earlier paraffinum liquidum doesn't bother me in skincare products other than it is not an eco-friendly ingredient.

Ingredients: Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Ethylhexyl palmitate, Butylene glycol dicaprylate/dicaprate, Polyethylene, Paraffinum liquidum, Cera microcristallina, Euphorbia cerifera (Candelilla) wax, Olea europaea (Olive) fruit oil, Dipropylene glycol, Parfum (Fragrance), Tocopheryl acetate, Linalool, Amyl cinnamal, BHT, Denatonium benzoate, Tocopherol

Overall I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an affordable cleansing stick! You won't be disappointed.

Overall Score: 5/5

Boots Glow Skincare Cleansing Oil

Boots Glow Cleansing Oil 100ml - £4

Promises: Our Boots Glow Cleansing Oil cleanses away pore-clogging dirt and removes make-up, to leave skin looking brighter and more radiant.

This was the first product I picked up from Boots and I liked it so much that I went back and picked up a few more products to try. This cleansing oil is just amazing for the price point. It has a lovely fruity scent and it is mostly just mineral oil meaning it should be good for almost anyone even for sensitive skin.

The cleansing oil does what it promises, it cleanses, removes makeup and leaves skin looking radiant.

Ingredients: Paraffinum liquidum, Laureth-3, Ethylhexyl palmitate, Olea europaea (Olive) fruit oil, Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Dipropylene glycol, Parfum (Fragrance), Tocopherol, Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, Linalool, Amyl cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Denatonium benzoate.

I will definitely purchase this again!
